Check GCC Pool Equipment Power Before You Order
A contractor checklist for matching pumps, heat pumps, controls and lights to the project voltage, frequency, phase and nameplate data.

A pump can meet the hydraulic duty and still arrive in the wrong electrical version. By the time the mismatch reaches the plant room, the contractor is choosing between delay, replacement and improvised site changes.
Prevent that problem at quotation stage. Put voltage, frequency and phase on every powered equipment line, then check those values again on the actual nameplate before shipment.
Do not use "GCC standard" as a specification
Confirm the supply from the approved project electrical information and local utility conditions. Do not copy it from another GCC country or from a previous job in the same city.
Saudi Arabia's network frequency is 60 Hz, according to the Saudi Electricity Company. The company also publishes guidance on the ongoing voltage transition. The practical lesson is simple: even when the frequency is known, the project voltage still needs confirmation.
For other GCC destinations, use the same process. Check the single-line diagram, equipment schedule and consultant or utility confirmation for that project.
Why frequency changes the equipment selection
Motor speed and equipment performance are linked to frequency and design. The 50 Hz and 60 Hz versions of the same product family may use different speeds, curves, motors or model references.
This does not apply only to pumps. Heat-pump compressors, transformers, controls and other powered components need confirmation against the exact offered model.
Put these fields on every powered line
Record:
- Voltage at the equipment connection.
- Frequency in hertz.
- Single-phase or three-phase supply.
- Rated input or output, as applicable, with the model reference.
At project level, also note breaker and protection requirements, control voltage, generator or UPS conditions, cable-route responsibility and any building-management-system interface.
Check the places where mismatches hide
Pumps and blowers
Review the hydraulic duty against the curve for the offered electrical version. A curve for another frequency is not enough.
Heat pumps and chillers
Confirm the full model code, compressor and electrical data, ambient design conditions and protection requirements. "220 V" does not define a complete unit.
Dosing and control equipment
Check supply voltage, outputs, sensor compatibility and interfaces. If a product accepts several voltages, that capability should appear in its datasheet.
Underwater lighting
Separate mains supply, transformer or driver output, lamp voltage and control system. The appointed electrical designer must approve the local safety arrangement.
Variable-frequency drives
A VFD does not automatically fix a mismatched order. It has to be selected with the motor, load, controls, enclosure and project electrical design.
Add one electrical block to the project BOM
Use this order for every powered item:
model / duty / voltage / frequency / phase / rated power / control requirement / status
Mark unknown values TBC and give each one a confirmation owner and date. The pool equipment BOM checklist and BOM template keep this block connected to the rest of the supply package.
Before approval, compare the proposed datasheet with the project requirement. Before packing, collect model and nameplate photographs under an agreed quality inspection scope. Stop the shipment review if the two do not match.
Saudi-bound equipment also needs consistent model and rating data across the technical file, product label and shipment record. Use the SABER and SASO preparation guide early, while the equipment list can still be corrected.
For equipment sourced from China, we collect supplier datasheets, check model references and arrange order-specific photographs. Final design and approval belong to the project electrical engineer, and installation must follow local requirements.
Add the BOM and approved electrical schedule, or the relevant single-line extract, to the WhatsApp chat. Mark values under review as TBC. A visible open item is easier to manage than a motor selected from a guess.
